Kenyan Police DIG Steps Aside Amidst Albert Ojwang Murder Probe

Kenyan Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat announced today that he is stepping aside from his position to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation into the death of Albert Ojwang. Ojwang's death follows Lagat's complaint which resulted in Ojwang's arrest. The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Talaam remains in custody. Lagat stated, "In the good and conscious thought of my role and responsibilities as a Deputy Inspector General of Police Service, and in view of the ongoing investigations of the unfortunate incident of the death of Albert Ojwang, I have today opted to step aside from the office of the Deputy Inspector General, Kenya Police Service, pending completion of the investigations."
