Lima, Peru – Automotive experts are issuing warnings to drivers about the critical dangers of water entering a vehicle's engine. A recent informational video by Clinica Automotriz Oficial highlights the severe and often costly damage that can result from such an incident, urging immediate action and professional assessment. According to the clinic's specialists, the extent of damage is directly proportional to the volume of water ingested and the engine's operating speed at the time. "Water inside the engine can lead to catastrophic failures, including damage to the cylinder head and cylinders, resulting in significant coolant leaks and compromised head gaskets," stated a representative from Clinica Automotriz Oficial. The video further explains the phenomenon of 'hydro-lock,' where water's incompressibility can halt piston movement, causing severe stress and damage to vital internal components like connecting rods and crankshafts. Beyond mechanical issues, electrical systems are also vulnerable. The onboard computer and various sensors can be damaged, leading to performance degradation and erratic vehicle behavior. Corrosion is another long-term threat, affecting engine parts and the exhaust system, thereby shortening their operational life. Drivers are advised that if water enters the engine, it is crucial to switch off the vehicle immediately and refrain from attempting to restart it. "Seeking assistance from a qualified mechanic is paramount to properly evaluate the damage and perform necessary repairs, preventing further complications and ensuring vehicle safety," the clinic emphasized.
