Bystander Captures Dramatic Detention of Alleged Undocumented Immigrant in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA – A recent incident in West Los Angeles has drawn significant public attention after federal immigration agents detained an alleged undocumented immigrant. The event, captured on video by a bystander, shows agents in plain clothes pursuing Celina Vanessa Hernandez Ramirez, who was reportedly selling food outside a Home Depot. The footage depicts Ms. Ramirez clinging to a tree as agents attempt to remove her. The bystander, identified as Aleca Le Blanc, can be heard questioning the agents' actions and demanding their identification, stating, "What you're doing is kidnapping. What the f*** is wrong with you! Get the f*** back! Are you f***ing kidding me?" Le Blanc later told CNN she found the situation horrifying and that Ms. Ramirez was "running out of fear." Following the incident, Ms. Le Blanc filed a report with the local sheriff. The Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a statement confirming that during operations on June 23, CBP encountered Celina Vanessa Hernandez Ramirez, an illegal alien from El Salvador, for being unlawfully present in the United States. McLaughlin added, "Despite verbal harassment by members of the public, the officers ultimately detained this illegal alien and placed her under arrest." According to the ICE website, Ms. Ramirez is currently in ICE custody, though her specific location has not been disclosed.
