Kingston, Jamaica – October 27, 2025 – Jamaica is bracing for Hurricane Melissa, now a Category 5 storm with 160 mph winds, expected to be the strongest to ever hit the island. Jamaican Minister Matthew Samuda warned of 17-foot waves, significant storm surge, and up to 40 inches of rain. Samuda stated, "There isn't infrastructure that's built... to navigate that sort of risk," predicting "significant damage." Residents are seen boarding up properties as the nation prepares for an unprecedented natural disaster.
