Madrid, Spain – A recent video review by popular food content creator Cocituber has brought attention to alleged questionable billing practices at Asador Errazki, a Basque restaurant located in Getafe. The reviewer, known for his candid assessments of dining establishments, praised the quality of the food but heavily criticized the restaurant for including charges for bread, cutlery, and an appetizer on the final bill, claiming such practices are illegal in Spain. During his visit, Cocituber sampled a range of dishes, including fried shrimp, Bermeo anchovies, beef cecina with Idiazabal cheese, Chistorra from Navarra, Tolosa beans, cocochas al pil pil, and a substantial steak. While he lauded the taste and preparation of the main courses, his experience was marred by an unexpected 5€ charge for 'Cubierto Pan y Aperitivo' (Cutlery, Bread, and Appetizer) on a total bill of 195.90€ for two people. 'It's very cool to take an appetizer... what is it, a shrimp? I wanted that shrimp? For five euros, would I want that shrimp?' Cocituber questioned in his video, expressing his frustration. He further stated, 'Charging for cutlery is absolutely forbidden... I knew where I was going, but knowing they would charge for the shrimp, I wouldn't have ordered it.' Asador Errazki, which has been open for 21 years, has yet to issue a public statement regarding the allegations. This incident highlights a recurring debate within the Spanish hospitality sector regarding transparency in billing and consumer rights concerning additional charges for basic services.
