The British rapper said he and Frank had a platonic lunch...
London's underground music scene continues to produce exciting talent, with 20-year-old rapper and producer Fakemink emerging as a significant figure. Recently, Complex News highlighted the artist's rapid ascent, noting his impressive co-signs from industry heavyweights like Drake, Frank Ocean, and Timothée Chalamet. Fakemink's journey began at a remarkably young age. "The 20-year-old rapper/producer started making beats on FL Studios from his room when he was 10-years-old," stated Jordan Rose in the Complex News report. His early influences included Drake, whose 'Headlines' snare patterns he would meticulously copy to develop his own sound. Fakemink also draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists such as Dean Blunt, Babyfather, Nettspend, and Kanye West. His musical style is described as a distinctive fusion. "His music has this snare-heavy jerk-rap production that you hear from American-based artists like XavierSoBased, but also this hyperpop sound that you would hear from somebody like PinkPantheress or even Jim Legxacy," Rose explained. This experimental approach is evident in his 2023 debut album, 'London's Saviour,' where "every track takes a different and exciting turn." Fakemink's 2025 singles, 'Easter Pink' and 'LV Sandals,' have gained considerable traction, with the latter notably performed during Drake's Wireless takeover in July. Despite his music's energetic, rave-like quality, Fakemink identifies as a homebody who prefers making music to going out. This introspective nature may be one reason why Frank Ocean has recently shared pictures of him on Instagram. With upcoming performances in New York on September 8th and Los Angeles on September 15th, Fakemink is poised to make a significant impact on the American music scene. "If you're in the area, I highly suggest seeing the kid live," urged Rose, emphasizing the exciting potential of the UK underground.
