Uncovering Seville's Hidden Topographical Secrets Near Las Setas
Seville's iconic Metropol Parasol, popularly known as Las Setas, continues to draw visitors, ranking as the city's third most visited monument and previously holding the distinction of being the second most searched location globally on Google. However, a recent report from El Correo de Andalucía sheds light on a hidden detail within the urban landscape near this famous structure. According to the report, a small, blue and white square, barely noticeable to the casual observer, is embedded in the "Plaza de la Encarnación" sign on a nearby building. This seemingly innocuous marker is, in fact, a crucial topographical reference point used by surveyors. "This is a topographic landmark," explained the presenter, "these are small markers that topographers hide around the city to have references." These markers, he elaborated, allow surveyors to monitor subtle changes in the ground, such as sinking or expansion, and to make necessary adjustments to urban structures. The video also showcased another such marker from a rooftop, emphasizing the continuous efforts to maintain the city's stability and ensure the integrity of its architectural marvels.
