UK Upgrades Mobile Masts to Connect Rural Communities
The UK government is taking steps to improve mobile phone coverage in rural areas and boost the local economy. Over 50 mobile masts have been upgraded to provide coverage from all mobile network operators, impacting an area equivalent to 66,470 football pitches. This initiative aims to address concerns about digital inclusion in these communities, which Telecoms Minister Sir Chris Bryant said are 'powerhouses of economic growth' contributing over £240 billion annually to the UK economy. The upgrade provides new coverage to areas of natural beauty and national parks. This initiative will help to build a more connected and resilient country, allowing rural businesses to thrive and residents and visitors to live and explore with greater ease and peace of mind.
