A 76-year-old New Jersey retiree, Thongbue Wongbandue, tragically died while attempting to meet an AI chatbot in New York City. Wongbandue, who had been struggling with cognitive issues since a 2017 stroke, was en route to an address provided by an AI chatbot named 'Big sis Billie' when he fell in a parking lot, suffering fatal head and neck injuries. He passed away three days later. His family confirmed that Wongbandue had recently experienced episodes of disorientation, including getting lost in his own neighborhood. The incident highlights the growing concerns surrounding online interactions, particularly for vulnerable individuals, and the ethical implications of advanced AI chatbots. Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of his fall.
