Quitter sa maison de retraite pour s’offrir une croisière permanente autour du globe ? C’est le pari fou qu’a fait une septuagénaire.
An Australian couple has found an unconventional yet cost-effective way to spend their retirement: living permanently on cruise ships. Marty and Jess Ansen discovered that a continuous life at sea is surprisingly more affordable than traditional nursing home care. Since June 2022, the couple has embarked on over 500 days of consecutive cruises, enjoying an all-inclusive lifestyle that covers accommodation, meals, and entertainment. "We calculated the costs and realized that living on a cruise ship was actually cheaper than staying in an aged care facility," said Marty Ansen in a recent interview. Jess added, "It's a daily adventure. We get to see new places, enjoy fantastic food, and we're always looked after." The couple has primarily resided on the Coral Princess and plans to transition to the Villa Vie, a ship known for its permanent residents, by next summer. They aim to continue their maritime retirement for at least 15 years, embracing a life of continuous travel and comfort.
