CHEREAPASHYNETS QUARRY, UKRAINE – A recent diving expedition into the Cherepashynets Quarry has brought to light a concerning issue of environmental pollution. An experienced diver, accompanied by a new trainee named Andriy, conducted an underwater exploration, revealing a significant amount of human waste on the quarry floor. During their dive to depths of up to 10 meters, the divers navigated through submerged trees, forming an unexpected 'underwater forest.' However, alongside this unique natural feature, they encountered numerous discarded items, including beer bottles, vodka bottles, and broken glass. The lead diver expressed disappointment regarding the irresponsible behavior leading to such pollution. 'It's disheartening to see how people treat this beautiful natural site,' he stated, referring to the widespread litter. For Andriy, a former freediver and spearfisher, this marked his inaugural scuba diving experience. Despite the challenging discovery, he reportedly enjoyed his first venture into the underwater world with full diving gear. The expedition serves as a stark reminder of the importance of preserving natural environments from human impact.
