Une nouvelle loi encadre désormais les arrêts de travail liés aux épisodes de canicule : qui peut en bénéficier et comment cela fonctionne ?
Paris, France – In a significant development for the construction industry, heatwaves have officially been recognized as a valid reason for technical unemployment for building workers in France. This measure, long advocated by unions, aims to enhance worker safety during extreme heat conditions.According to Patrick Blanchard, National Secretary of the CFDT, as cited by AFP, employees will be eligible for compensation starting from the second day of technical unemployment, with their salaries largely maintained. This provision will be activated when Météo France issues an orange or red heatwave vigilance alert. The new recognition places heatwaves alongside other severe weather conditions such as snow, frost, and strong winds as legitimate grounds for halting work in the building and public works (BTP) sector. The primary objective is to safeguard workers from heat-related illnesses or decreased concentration due to high temperatures. However, it is important to note that short-duration heat spikes, lasting only one or two days, will not qualify as a reason for technical unemployment for BTP employees. Building unions have expressed their satisfaction with this advancement, hailing it as a major step forward for the health and well-being of construction workers.
