Geese Take a Dip: Unexpected Visitors at Madrid Pool
A family of Egyptian geese created a stir at a public swimming pool in Moratalaz, a neighborhood in Madrid, Spain. The unexpected appearance of the birds and their goslings caused a brief commotion among the bathers on June 5th, 2025. One bather, a young child, attempted to get closer to the goslings, prompting the mother goose to protectively chase the child away. In the video, we can see the geese calmly walking along the edge of the pool, their young following closely behind. "It was quite a sight," commented one witness, "I've never seen anything like it." The incident ended happily when one of the goslings fell into a small gap near the pool's edge and was quickly rescued by several bathers. The video is a reminder of the unexpected ways wildlife can intersect with urban life and the kindness of strangers.
