A mother from the United Kingdom has issued a stark warning to parents after her toddler was hospitalized following the ingestion of peppermint essential oil. The incident, which occurred recently, saw the young child's heart rate and blood pressure drop significantly, necessitating an overnight stay in the hospital. The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, explained that she had been using a 'natural' peppermint essential oil in a spray bottle to deter spiders. She initially believed a tiny drop that touched her son's lip was innocuous. However, after consulting emergency services, she learned that even a minimal amount of the oil can be highly toxic for young children. "It was a big panic over something that I thought was just so minute, it's literally natural and organic, but it can be so dangerous," she stated in a video shared online. Medical professionals confirmed that even 1-2 milliliters of certain essential oils can be poisonous for toddlers, who are particularly susceptible due to their developing systems. The mother's experience underscores the importance of keeping all essential oils, regardless of their 'natural' labeling, securely out of reach of children to prevent accidental poisoning.
