Mexico State Launches Innovative MOVIMEX Card for Public Transport and Banking
**MOVIMEX: New Bank Card and Public Transport Payment System Launched in Mexico State** Mexico State's Mobility Secretariat recently launched MOVIMEX, a dual-purpose card serving as both a bank card and a payment method for public transportation. This initiative aims to modernize the state's transport system and improve financial inclusion for its citizens. MOVIMEX offers two versions: a debit/savings card and a credit card option in partnership with Stori. The debit/savings card offers a free ride for every five paid journeys, while the credit card version includes a rewards system providing free trips at the end of each billing cycle. The card's functionality extends beyond transport, allowing users to pay for utilities and make online and in-store purchases. "MOVIMEX is an innovative solution that facilitates payment in public transport and integrates functions of debit, savings, and credit," stated a spokesperson for the Secretariat. The program is designed to improve financial inclusion by offering access to banking products with benefits such as interest-free periods and no annual fees on the debit version. The card is valid across major integrated mobility systems, including the Mexico City Metro, Mexibús, Mexicable, Metrobús, Trolebús Chalco-Santa Martha, and the Suburban Train. This comprehensive integration provides a convenient and cost-effective solution for commuters throughout the region, demonstrating a significant step towards a more efficient and inclusive public transport network.
