Catalonia's VTCs to Remain: New Transport Law Aims for Integration
Catalonia's Mobility Secretary Manel Nadal addressed the future of VTCs (vehicles for hire with a driver) in a recent interview. He confirmed that VTCs will not be eliminated but will be subject to new regulations. A key aspect of the upcoming transport law, scheduled for release in June, is a platform designed to monitor the balance between supply and demand. Nadal emphasized the importance of integrating VTCs into the public transport system. He stated, "Les VTC no desapareixeran, es mantindran. Hem de veure com s’integren." (VTCs will not disappear, they will remain. We must see how they are integrated.) This statement highlights the government's approach to balancing the needs of the VTC sector with broader transportation goals. The new law aims to address concerns about environmental impact and traffic congestion. The planned platform will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient regulation of both VTCs and traditional taxis.
