WBC President Sulaiman Defends Canelo Álvarez Over May 3rd Incident
Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), recently addressed the controversy surrounding Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez, unequivocally stating that the Mexican boxing superstar bears no responsibility for the events of May 3rd. Speaking at a press conference, Sulaiman asserted, "Saúl has absolutely no responsibility for what happened on May 3rd. Skull is the one who needs to be held accountable, and that has already passed." He further emphasized the need to focus on the positive aspects of boxing, comparing past disappointments in sports, such as 0-0 football matches or underwhelming Super Bowl events, to the incident in question. "He has all the records you can imagine, and we must be present and talk about the good things, because what happened that night was not his fault and it hurt all of us in boxing," Sulaiman concluded, urging the community to move forward and celebrate the sport's achievements.
