Former Love Island participant Elan Bibas recently took to social media to openly discuss his ongoing struggles with mental health, marking a significant departure from the often-curated online persona. In a candid video, Bibas revealed that his mental well-being has been at its lowest point in at least two years, attributing much of this to rapid life changes, including his recent decision to leave a corporate job to pursue a career in content creation and platform building. "My mental health is the worst that it's been in at least two years, and I'm not afraid to say it," Bibas stated in the video. He emphasized the profound impact of these transitions, noting, "At this point in my life, things have changed so much, so rapidly, including the most recent change, leaving my corporate job to pursue building the content that I want to build." Bibas highlighted the importance of transparency, asserting that while it's easy to share only the "highlight reel" of exciting experiences, it is crucial to also acknowledge the difficulties. "I think it's important that I also share the struggles along the way. It's not all just sunshine and rainbows," he explained. He underscored the universality of such challenges, adding, "The same way I think most people struggle on a regular basis, I'm also struggling on a regular basis too. That's normal, and it needs to be talked about more." To foster this open dialogue, Bibas committed to a weekly initiative. "My promise to you is that once a week, every single week, I am going to be doing a mental health check-in," he announced. During these check-ins, he plans to discuss his weekly struggles, coping strategies, and mental state, with the aim of encouraging his audience to engage in similar self-reflection. "Hopefully, doing that will help you guys do the same," he concluded, advocating for a collective effort to destigmatize mental health conversations.
