
La Aurora Airport Undergoes Essential Runway Maintenance, Flights Temporarily Suspended
Guatemala City, Guatemala – La Aurora International Airport (GUA) is currently undertaking significant preventive and corrective maintenance on its main runway. The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) announced that these crucial works are scheduled to occur daily from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.During these hours, all air operations that require runway use, including both takeoffs and landings, are temporarily suspended to ensure the safety and efficiency of the maintenance process. In parallel with the runway repairs, specialized personnel from the Road Conservation Unit (COVIAL) are conducting a comprehensive soil study. This study is part of a broader technical evaluation aimed at strengthening and improving the airport's operational infrastructure.Airlines and private aviation operators were informed well in advance of these scheduled works to allow them to make necessary adjustments to their flight itineraries and minimize any potential inconvenience to passengers. As of now, no major disruptions or inconveniences have been reported. The airport is expected to resume normal operations each day after midday, once the planned maintenance activities are concluded. Passengers are advised to stay informed about their flight status through their respective airline's official channels.
