Guatemalan President Condemns Deputy's Tire-Throwing Incident in Congress

Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo has strongly condemned an incident that occurred in the Congress of the Republic, where Deputy Luis Aguirre, head of the Cabal bloc, threw a tire at the Minister of Communications, Infrastructure, and Housing, Miguel Díaz. The incident took place during a citation and created a moment of tension. In a message posted on his social media, President Arévalo described Aguirre's action as an "aggression." He stated, "No one has to put up with unacceptable disrespect, disguised as oversight. What happened today in Congress is shameful and unacceptable. Deputy Aguirre attacked Minister Miguel Díaz. The abuse and violence are evident, and we will not tolerate it." Arévalo further instructed government officials to withdraw from any citation where they are subjected to aggression, emphasizing that "Officials deserve respect. Guatemala is not a circus." The video footage shows Minister Díaz managing to stop the tire with one hand, preventing it from hitting his face.
