New plague 'ruining' the Hamptons this summer
Emma Ambrose, 20, says her beloved hometown is being 'ruined', adding that she's 'never seen anything like this'.
A longtime resident of Sag Harbor in the Hamptons has voiced strong concerns regarding the current summer season, describing the popular destination as "literally getting ruined" due to overwhelming crowds. The local, who grew up in the area, stated that while she previously welcomed the influx of visitors during the summer months, the situation has now become "ridiculous." According to the resident, the Hamptons are experiencing unprecedented levels of overpopulation, leading to significant inconveniences for both locals and visitors. She highlighted extreme wait times, with entry into bars reportedly taking up to two hours, often accompanied by cover charges. Traffic congestion has also become a major issue, with a typical 20-minute drive extending to two hours. The resident further commented on the area's transformation into an "influencer nation," expressing that this trend is contributing negatively to the local atmosphere. She advised potential visitors against coming for short weekend trips solely for social media content, suggesting that the high costs and diminished experience make it "not worth it." Despite her concerns, she acknowledged that people are likely to continue visiting the popular destination.
