Ralph Fiennes warns new Voldemort in Harry Potter TV series of danger
The 28 Years Later star played Voldemort for five films between 2005 and 2011.
Ralph Fiennes, the acclaimed actor behind Lord Voldemort, recently offered lighthearted advice for any future performers set to embody the infamous dark wizard. During an interview, Fiennes emphasized the unexpected practicalities of the role, particularly the challenge of navigating Voldemort's extensive, flowing robes. "My advice is... make sure you can handle the long, flowing robes and don't trip over them. Practice your long, flowing, robe walk," Fiennes advised with a smile. He then delved into a humorous costume anecdote from his time on set. Fiennes revealed that he initially wore one-piece tights as part of the costume, which became increasingly uncomfortable throughout the shooting day. "Initially I wore tights that were one piece. So they had to gusset. Which then kept getting lower and lower through the shooting day. And became uncomfortable," he explained. To remedy this, Fiennes requested individual tights, which he jokingly described as being "like a garter belt." He added, "I enjoyed teasing the stunt guys by lifting up my robes and showing them my garter belt." His candid and amusing remarks offer a rare glimpse into the less glamorous, yet often comical, aspects of bringing a formidable character like Voldemort to life.
