Athens, Greece – Popular influencer Amiyiami has opened up about her challenging past experiences working in Greek television, revealing a period of significant exploitation and low wages. In a recent interview, Amiyiami recounted being dismissed from a television program due to low ratings, a decision she found unfair given her extensive responsibilities. "I was working at FM Live then, and I wasn't doing well at all," Amiyiami stated. "I was getting very little money for doing a lot of things." She detailed a demanding schedule, working from 10 AM to 8 PM, which included appearing on camera, editing, and conducting field reports. For these extensive duties, she reported earning approximately 600 per month. Amiyiami expressed her frustration with the industry's culture, particularly a meeting where the team was blamed for the show's poor performance. "They were constantly threatening dismissal, constantly telling you that what you were doing wasn't enough," she explained. "And we're talking about serious exploitation here." She emphasized that as a central presenter, one cannot solely attribute blame to the team, as it's a collective effort. Reflecting on her younger self, Amiyiami admitted, "I had a boldness of youth and an ignorance of danger that made me believe that what I was doing would become a career." She revealed that her true passion was theater, which she couldn't pursue due to financial constraints. Despite being contacted by a television channel three years later with an offer to return, Amiyiami ultimately declined. "I don't say this now to boast," she clarified, "The point is to work and be paid what we're worth, and to work under good conditions for all people, based on the work they do." Her story highlights broader concerns about fair labor practices within the entertainment industry.
