Benson Boone Reveals the Whimsical Origin of 'Moonbeam Ice Cream' Lyric on The Tonight Show During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, musical sensation Benson Boone shed light on the unexpected inspiration behind his popular song lyric, "Moonbeam Ice Cream." The phrase, which has garnered significant attention online, was initially a spontaneous placeholder born out of a moment of writer's block. Boone shared with Fallon that he and his co-writer were struggling to find the right words for a melody when the whimsical line was suggested. "It was a placeholder for the day, and then we went home and listened to it, and I was like, 'You know what? Moonbeam Ice Cream. Hell yeah!'" Boone recounted, much to the amusement of the audience and Fallon. Jimmy Fallon praised Boone's consistent ability to deliver impactful performances, noting that the artist "hit a home run with every performance." The host then playfully inquired if any ice cream companies, particularly Ben & Jerry's, had reached out regarding the viral lyric. Boone revealed that while Häagen-Dazs had shown interest, Ben & Jerry's had yet to respond, prompting Fallon to encourage the brand to take notice.
