British tourist left stunned by supermarket prices in Switzerland
We've all felt the pinch in our wallets as grocery prices rise - but the sky-high prices in a Swiss supermarket has shocked a British tourist.
GENEVA, Switzerland - A recent video tour of a Swiss supermarket has highlighted the nation's notoriously high cost of living, with everyday items fetching prices that may surprise international visitors. The video, shared by travel vlogger 'Fitch Family Adventures,' showcased a range of products, from fresh produce to household essentials, illustrating the significant financial outlay required for basic groceries. Organic Marzanino tomatoes were priced at 4.95 CHF (approximately £4.50), while ready-made Caesar salads ranged from 6.80 CHF to 7.20 CHF (£6.18 to £5.76). Pizzas were observed at 12 CHF (£10.90) each. Even smaller treats like chocolate ladybugs and Smarties were listed at 4.75 CHF (£4.31) per pack. A five-pack of 100-gram Toblerone bars, even on sale, cost 13.20 CHF (£11.99). Beyond food items, the video also revealed the cost of non-food necessities. A ream of 500 sheets of A4 paper was priced at 11.95 CHF (£10.85), and a large bottle of Persil laundry detergent was 24.95 CHF (£22.66). The vlogger's observations underscore Switzerland's reputation as one of the world's most expensive countries, particularly for daily expenditures.
