Athens, Greece - In a recent traffic enforcement operation targeting motorcyclists without helmets, former reality TV star Stathis Schizas was among those issued a fine. The incident, captured on video, shows Schizas being interviewed by reporters, where he candidly admitted his error. "It was a big mistake," Schizas stated, acknowledging the police's actions. He further added, "The police did very well. I made a mistake, but now they're giving us a helmet as a gift, so they should double the fine." He suggested that for every subsequent offense, the penalty should increase, noting his current fine was 350 euros. Another individual present explained that Schizas had arrived at his motorcycle via public transport, which led to him not having his helmet readily available at the time of the stop. "He came by public transport, so he didn't have his helmet with him. It was a last-minute situation," the individual commented, adding, "Next time he'll take a taxi." The operation underscores ongoing efforts by Greek traffic police to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with helmet laws.
