Hurricane Season Begins: Expert Warns of Potential Threats
Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season Begins; Atlantic Remains Quiet for Now The Eastern Pacific hurricane season officially started on May 15, 2025, according to FOX Weather Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross. In a recent video update, Norcross reported that tropical development is currently unlikely in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans for the next seven days. However, he highlighted areas of potential concern. "What we see are the winds here converging from the north," Norcross explained, pointing to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) on a weather map. "They converge and make this line of storms... a typical thing that happens in hurricane season." Norcross emphasized that while conditions are not currently conducive for storm development in the Atlantic, a pocket of warmer water near Central America warrants monitoring. He also noted that cooler water temperatures and dust in the atmosphere are currently inhibiting development in the eastern Atlantic. The FOX Weather report offers a valuable perspective on the season's early stages, emphasizing the importance of continued monitoring.
