Millions of Reais in Forgotten Funds Await Claim in Brazil
Millions of Reais Await Claim in Brazil's Updated 'Valores a Receber' System Brazil's Central Bank has streamlined its "Valores a Receber" (Values to Receive) system, making it easier than ever for citizens to reclaim forgotten funds. This initiative aims to return over R$ 9 billion to 46 million individuals and businesses who have unclaimed money in closed accounts or consortiums. The system's new automatic retrieval function, launched recently, transfers funds directly via PIX, eliminating the need for manual requests. However, the Central Bank stresses that it will never contact individuals via links or unsolicited messages. "I was surprised; I didn't expect it," said Maurício, a resident of Rio de Janeiro, who recently discovered he had nearly R$ 1,800 waiting to be claimed. "Who knows if your money is out there? It's worth checking!" he added. To access the system, visit valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br. For automatic retrieval, users need a Gov.br account (silver or gold level) with two-factor authentication enabled. This new feature is exclusive to individuals using their CPF as their PIX key. This initiative represents a significant step towards financial inclusion and transparency in Brazil.
