Galicia-Madrid High-Speed Rail: More Seats, Faster Trips, But Is It Enough?
Galicia-Madrid Train Tickets to Go on Sale Soon The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has announced significant improvements to high-speed rail service between Galicia and Madrid, starting June 9th. The improvements include a 90% increase in available seats compared to April 2024, and a reduction in travel times of approximately 20 minutes for several Galician cities. Eleven daily round trips are planned. The announcement comes in response to ongoing concerns about the limited availability of train tickets between the two regions. However, the Galician regional government has expressed concerns that the improvements are insufficient to address the ongoing issues faced by passengers. "This announcement only masks the chaos suffered by Galician users," stated a representative of the regional government. The increased capacity and faster travel times are expected to benefit both residents and tourists traveling between Galicia and Madrid during the summer months. The sale of tickets for travel between June 9th and October is expected to begin soon.
