A Coruña Scam Alert: Fake Charity Collector Targets Residents
A Coruña Scam Alert: Man Impersonates Charity to Collect Money A Coruña, Galicia – Residents of A Coruña are being warned about a man fraudulently collecting money under the guise of the Aspace association, which supports individuals with cerebral palsy. The alleged scammer, described as a man in his 60s with an eye problem, approaches homes and solicits donations, claiming the funds are for the association's beneficiaries. Ricardo Iglesias, manager of Aspace, confirmed that the association is not conducting door-to-door fundraising. "We received a call from a woman who described a man around 60 years old, with an eye problem, aggressively asking for money in her neighborhood," Iglesias stated. He added, "It's unconscionable to exploit an organization that helps people with disabilities for personal gain." Aspace has reported the scam to the authorities and is urging residents to donate only through official channels. The incident highlights the importance of verifying the authenticity of charitable organizations before making donations. Aspace has also emphasized the need for caution and awareness to prevent further instances of this fraud.
