
Thousands Visit Spanish Navy Ships in Vigo
Vigo, Galicia, Spain – May 25, 2025 – Over the weekend, the Spanish Navy opened the doors of two of its vessels, the frigate 'Blas de Lezo' and the supply ship 'Cantabria', to the public in Vigo. More than 1,500 people took advantage of the opportunity to tour the ships, which were docked at the city's transatlantic pier. Long lines formed as visitors eagerly awaited their chance to explore the vessels. The visit to the 'Blas de Lezo' was guided by navy personnel, who provided insights into the ship's capabilities and history. "This ship is at the forefront of Europe in this type of vessel," explained Lieutenant Juan González, the ship's operations officer. "It has a very powerful air radar, capable of tracking many targets." The tour also included a visit to the 'Cantabria', which supplies other ships at sea with food, fuel, ammunition and spare parts. The event was a resounding success, showcasing the Spanish Navy's commitment to public engagement and highlighting the impressive technology of its fleet.
