A Coruña Bans Loudspeakers on Beaches to Create Peaceful Atmosphere
A Coruña Bans Loudspeakers on Beaches to Ensure Safety and Environmental Protection A Coruña, Spain – In a move to balance beach enjoyment with public safety and environmental concerns, the A Coruña City Council has approved a new ordinance prohibiting the use of loudspeakers on city beaches. The ordinance, which is expected to be formally approved at a full council meeting, also includes restrictions on dogs and regulations for sporting activities. "The goal is to make the use and enjoyment of the beaches compatible with the safety of users, as well as the sustainable maintenance and natural protection of the sand," explained A Coruña Mayor Inés Rey at a press conference. The ban on loudspeakers aims to reduce noise pollution and create a more relaxing atmosphere for beachgoers. Dogs will be prohibited from most beaches between June 1st and September 30th, except for a designated dog beach at Cala de Bens. Sporting activities will be allowed, but only if participants maintain a minimum distance of 10 meters from other beach users, particularly during peak season when beaches are crowded. The ordinance also introduces the possibility of establishing smoke-free zones on the city's beaches, further enhancing the environmental protection measures. The new regulations reflect a growing awareness of the need to balance the recreational use of beaches with the preservation of their natural environment and the safety and comfort of all users. The council's proactive approach to managing beach usage sets a positive example for other coastal communities.
