A'ja Wilson Unveils Pre-Game Secrets and Olympic Dreams in Candid Glamour Interview

Paris, France – WNBA sensation A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces recently sat down with Glamour magazine at Nike's pre-Olympics event in Paris, offering fans a unique glimpse into her personal routines and aspirations. The candid rapid-fire interview covered a range of topics, from her musical motivations to her hidden talents. When asked about the one song that gets her 'in the zone' before a competition, Wilson quickly named 'On My Mama' by Victoria Monét, signaling her go-to anthem for pump-up moments. Perhaps surprisingly, the basketball star revealed a strong affinity for another Olympic sport: sand volleyball. 'Volleyball was my first love,' Wilson stated, expressing regret about having to give it up. She added, 'They look so cool in their shades and their bikinis. The sport is just awesome to watch.' Discussing her signature competition hairstyle, Wilson detailed her preference for a middle part and a 'slow cut bob, like a lob, a long bob,' which she then pulls into a ponytail, ensuring it's 'ready to rock.' She emphasized the importance of using 'Mielle extra strength gel' to keep her edges slicked down, especially given the intensity of competition. Regarding makeup, Wilson confirmed, 'I do not wear makeup during competitions.' However, she clarified, 'Now, granted, my eyebrows and lashes do be done, but I cannot deal with makeup.' Wilson also shared a peculiar pre-competition ritual: always putting on her shoes 'right to left.' She noted the irony, being left-handed and typically doing everything else with her left side, including sleeping on the left side of the bed, but for shoes, it's strictly right to left. When prompted about any hidden talents, Wilson humbly replied, 'No, I'm pretty boring. Sorry. I don't know how to play an instrument.' The interview provided a refreshing look at the athlete beyond the court, highlighting her personality and unique quirks.
