Zelenskyy Shakes Up Ukraine's Military Leadership
Ukraine's President Zelenskyy announced a reshuffle in the top ranks of the country's defense forces on June 4th, 2025. The most notable change is the appointment of Mykhailo Drapaaty as the new commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (ZSU). Before this appointment, Drapaaty served as the commander of the ground forces. His resignation followed a Russian attack on a training camp in Dnipropetrovsk region. Zelenskyy also appointed new commanders for the airborne assault troops and for the forces responsible for unmanned aerial systems. These changes highlight the ongoing efforts to adapt and strengthen Ukraine's military capabilities in the context of the ongoing conflict. A spokesperson for the President's office stated, "These appointments are crucial for the effective conduct of military operations and the defense of our country."
