Comelec Confident of Completing Canvassing Amidst Overseas COC Transmission Issues
The Philippine Comelec is confident that the canvassing of the remaining 16 Certificates of Canvass (COCs) from the 2025 elections will be completed today. Despite some transmission issues, particularly from countries like Russia, Iran, and Poland, the process continues. GMA News' Sandra Aguinaldo reported live from the canvassing center, providing viewers with real-time updates. "Pasado alas cuatro ng hapon ay naglabas ng canvass report number one ang Comelec," Aguinaldo stated, explaining that the initial results are based on 58 COCs. Comelec Chairman Atty. George Erwin Garcia explained the delays, stating that they are working to bring the COCs from overseas to the nearest embassy or consulate for transmission. Director John Rex Laudiangco, Comelec spokesperson, added that they are using an internet voting system in those countries as part of their contingency plan. The video also highlights the high voter turnout at 81.65%, the highest in recent mid-term elections. The proclamation of the winning senators will be on Saturday, and the party-list representatives on Monday. This efficient handling of the situation, despite challenges, showcases the Comelec's dedication to a fair and timely election process.
