The arrest follows an investigation by the PNP CIDG, which implicated the couple as masterminds of the attack. "Noong lumabas ‘yung warrant of arrest nila, they voluntarily surrendered sa akin sa region. So dahil paalis naman ako papuntang Manila, pinakuha ko sila sa CIDG," explained PBGen. Romeo Macapaz, Regional Director, PRO-BAR, in a statement. The CIDG report suggests that personal disputes and land conflicts may have motivated the crime.
