Fake Departure Stamps Bust at NAIA: Over P100,000 Scam Exposed The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, Philippines, was the scene of a significant bust on June 10, 2025, when authorities apprehended an individual for allegedly creating and selling counterfeit departure stamps. This scam, estimated to have generated over 100,000 Philippine pesos, involved assisting passengers in evading immigration procedures. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Immigration collaborated on the operation. NBI agents intercepted a passenger with a fraudulent stamp. "The departure stamp on their passport and boarding pass was counterfeit," stated Agent Marvin Villardo, Executive Officer of the NBI-IAID. The suspect's access to the airport has been revoked. Regional Director Ferdinand Lavin, NBI spokesperson, emphasized the significance of the bust in the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration. He noted that the suspect received payments via cryptocurrency before facilitating the departure of passengers with questionable travel records. The suspect denied the allegations during questioning. The successful operation highlights the efforts to maintain security and integrity at NAIA.
