VIGO, Spain – Local runner Emilio Madarnás, known online as 'hassel_run,' has successfully completed an extraordinary ultra-marathon challenge, running 50 kilometers by performing 50 laps of a 1-kilometer circuit at Monte do Castro. The feat, documented by Madarnás himself, tested his physical and mental limits over several hours. Madarnás began his challenge with the goal of covering 50 kilometers, meticulously tracking his progress. He reported feeling stronger and faster with each passing kilometer, maintaining an average pace of approximately 5:22 per kilometer for the first 15 kilometers. By the 25th lap, marking the halfway point, he confirmed his rhythm was steady at 5:20 per kilometer. Remarkably, Madarnás completed the standard marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers in an impressive 3 hours and 44 minutes. The final kilometers proved to be the toughest, with Madarnás describing himself as 'suffering like dogs' and entering 'survival mode' due to the heat and accumulated fatigue. Despite the immense challenge, he pushed through, maintaining a pace of 6:00 per kilometer for the last five kilometers. Ultimately, Emilio Madarnás successfully finished the entire 50-kilometer challenge in a total moving time of 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 54 seconds, achieving a final average pace of 5:25 per kilometer. His accomplishment highlights the incredible endurance and determination required for such an extreme athletic endeavor.
