HUELVA, SPAIN – The Guardia Civil has significantly escalated its efforts against individuals involved in supplying fuel to drug trafficking operations, known as 'petaqueros,' across the province of Huelva. This intensified campaign, which saw increased activity throughout June, has resulted in substantial seizures and arrests. In a recent operation, authorities confiscated a total of 1,024 jerrycans, each containing 25 liters of fuel, amounting to 25,600 liters of gasoline. These fuel supplies were reportedly destined for 'narcolanchas,' high-speed boats used by drug traffickers.A notable part of the operation occurred on June 12 in Isla Cristina, where law enforcement officers successfully seized three vessels and 215 jerrycans. Following these interventions, five individuals have been taken into custody. They face charges related to crimes against collective security and disobedience to authority. The Guardia Civil's actions underscore their ongoing commitment to disrupting the logistical networks supporting drug trafficking in the region.
