Infant Loses Hand Due to Alleged Medical Malpractice in Bima, Parents Demand Accountability
BIMA, Indonesia – A 16-month-old girl, Arumi Aghnia, has lost her right hand, a tragedy her parents attribute to alleged medical malpractice. The incident, which occurred on May 12, 2025, has left parents Andika Putra and Marliana devastated and seeking justice. Arumi was initially brought to Puskesmas Bolo with symptoms of fever and vomiting. Laboratory results suggested dengue fever. However, the parents claim that delayed medical intervention at the facility ultimately led to the amputation of their daughter's right hand. Marliana expressed profound grief, stating, "We as parents are very heartbroken. But for our child's sake, we must keep fighting." Andika added that he lost his job due to needing to accompany his daughter for months of treatment in Mataram, but emphasized, "Work can be found again; what's important is that our child recovers first." The family has reportedly sought a response from the responsible parties, including Puskesmas Bolo, RS Sondosia, RS Kabupaten Bima, and the Bima Health Office, and has also met with the NTB Provincial Health Office. Andika stated their intention to pursue legal action if their concerns remain unaddressed. "If there is no response, we will proceed with legal action," he affirmed.
