Fernandina Beach, FL - Authorities in Nassau County have detailed a bizarre incident involving a New Jersey man who allegedly traveled across state lines to physically assault a fellow online gamer. Edward Kang, 20, of Newark, New Jersey, is accused of flying to Fernandina Beach, Florida, to confront a victim following an online altercation. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM yesterday, when deputies responded to a distress call at a local residence. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a significant amount of blood in the home's entryway and the victim's bedroom. The victim's stepfather reported being awakened by screams for help and found his stepson struggling with an assailant. The attacker, later identified as Kang, was reportedly in possession of a hammer during the altercation. "What makes this incident particularly noteworthy is that it originated from an online altercation," stated the sheriff during a press conference. "The suspect flew from Newark, New Jersey, to Florida, apparently to confront the victims in person." Investigators revealed that Kang gained access to the home because it was unlocked at the time of the incident. Kang allegedly assaulted the victim with a hammer, while the victim defended himself. The victim and his stepfather successfully disarmed Kang and restrained him until deputies arrived on scene. The motive behind the online dispute and subsequent physical attack remains under investigation.
