Serbian Army's Elite Divers Master Deep-Water Operations at Zavojsko Lake
ZAVOJSKO LAKE, Serbia – The elite diving units of the Serbian Army's River Flotilla have commenced their summer training cycle at Zavojsko Lake, focusing on advanced deep-water operations. Lieutenant Commander Željko Krmpot, commander of the 93rd Diving Company, stated that the training is crucial for enhancing the units' capabilities in search and rescue missions, as well as the retrieval of sunken objects. 'This lake is particularly significant for us because it offers depths ranging from 70 to 90 meters, depending on the water level,' Krmpot explained. He emphasized that these conditions are vital for acclimatizing divers to high pressure, reduced visibility, and extremely low water temperatures, which are critical for real-world scenarios. The current training also includes rigorous examinations for divers seeking higher professional categories, ensuring the continuous development of the force's specialized underwater capabilities.
