KOH SAMUI, Thailand – For many, daily chores are an unavoidable part of life, but for some expatriates in Thailand, these tasks have become a thing of the past. Claudia, a resident of Koh Samui, recently shared her experiences, revealing four common household duties she and her partner no longer undertake since relocating to the island. According to Claudia, cleaning is handled by a professional cleaner who visits their home twice a week, ensuring the residence remains tidy without personal effort. This service also extends to changing bed sheets, with the cleaner taking old linens to be laundered and returning them fresh. Cooking, a significant part of daily life for many, is also largely avoided. Claudia noted that food in Thailand is "so affordable and so cheap," leading them to rarely cook. Instead, they opt for healthy meal preparations or frequently dine out, enjoying both local Thai cuisine and Western dishes. Finally, laundry is another chore they have outsourced entirely. Despite having a washing machine, Claudia explained that it is "so much easier to get your laundry picked up." Services collect their laundry, wash and iron it, and return it neatly folded, providing a convenient and cost-effective solution. These services, she highlighted, make daily life "10 times easier" and "so easy and affordable." This insight offers a glimpse into the lifestyle advantages that attract many to live in Thailand, particularly the accessibility of affordable domestic and culinary services.
