Woolworths slammed by young Aussie after he tried to get a job
A young Aussie has lashed out at Woolworths.
A recent online video by user jammy_dunk has sparked discussion regarding the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence in corporate hiring processes. The individual, who applied for a team member position at Australian supermarket giant Woolworths, recounted a six-week application journey that involved two stages of AI-driven interviews and zero human interaction. "The first part of the process was fairly normal, filling out forms on their website for recruitment," jammy_dunk stated in his video. "And then the step that comes after that is an AI interview where a chatbot asks you questions, you have to answer them." He further explained that the second stage also involved an AI interview where he had to record video answers for a chatbot. After enduring a six-week waiting period, he received a rejection notice for the entry-level role. He described the entire experience as "demoralizing" and "really made me feel worse than any normal interview could have." The video highlights concerns about the impersonal nature of AI in recruitment, raising questions about the human element in evaluating candidates for even basic roles. This case brings to light the potential for automation to create a detached and frustrating experience for job applicants.
