Ljubljana, Slovenia – The automotive world is buzzing with the arrival of the 2025 Lynk & Co 01 facelift, a plug-in hybrid SUV that promises to challenge perceptions of premium vehicles. In a recent "uncut" review, automotive journalist Jan Macarol Vrabec provided an initial assessment of the updated model, highlighting its blend of Chinese innovation and Swedish engineering heritage. The Lynk & Co 01 is described as a "product of romance" between Geely and Volvo, a relationship solidified when Geely acquired Volvo in 2010. This strategic partnership has allowed Lynk & Co to emerge as a sub-brand, akin to Cupra's relationship with Seat, aiming for a more youthful and dynamic market segment. Vrabec noted the vehicle's dimensions, stating, "The car is 4.54 meters long, meaning it's one centimeter longer than a Tiguan and three centimeters taller." Despite its size, he observed a peculiar sensation: "The feeling when you walk around it is that it's a smaller car." This perception, he suggests, is likely due to its "very dynamically shaped" design and sleek lines, which visually reduce its apparent bulk. The facelift introduces several aesthetic enhancements that Vrabec particularly appreciated. He pointed out the increased use of "black piano plastics" and the distinctive rear lights, which he playfully described as "very evil" and reminiscent of a Porsche Cayenne. The car also features the longest turn signal in its segment, a unique design touch. Under the hood, the Lynk & Co 01 is a plug-in hybrid equipped with an 18 kWh battery, offering an electric range of approximately 80 kilometers. For the first 100 kilometers, the vehicle boasts an impressive fuel consumption of just 0.9 liters. With an output of 275 horsepower, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. The trunk space is generous at 466 liters, surpassing that of its Volvo XC40 sibling. Vrabec concluded his preview by expressing his strong approval of the facelift, stating, "I must say that I really like the facelift." A full video review is anticipated later this week, promising a more comprehensive look at this intriguing "Chinese Swede."
