Legal Consequences: What Happens If You Don't Pay Child Support in Mexico?

Mexico City, Mexico – Notary Jorge Ramos Campiran recently issued a public service announcement detailing the serious legal repercussions for individuals in Mexico who fail to meet their child support obligations. According to Campiran, a new National Register of Alimony Debtors has been established to track non-compliant parents. Inclusion in this register carries significant consequences, including the inability to obtain a voter identification card, renew a driver's license, or run for public office. Furthermore, individuals listed on the register may be legally prohibited from leaving the country by judicial order. Campiran urged viewers to understand these implications and fulfill their responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of adhering to child support laws to avoid these severe restrictions.
