Madrid, Spain – A prominent speaker, Jose Elías, recently highlighted a critical issue hindering the widespread adoption of electric vehicles: the lack of reliable supercharging infrastructure. During a recent presentation, Elías, an electric car owner for six years, stated that the problem is not with the electric cars themselves, but with the charging network. “I have an electric car for six years, and I don't dare to go 200 kilometers because I don't know where I'm going to end up,” Elías explained, emphasizing the uncertainty faced by EV drivers in Spain. He noted that approximately 95% of electric chargers are either non-functional or pose significant challenges for users. In stark contrast, Elías recounted his recent holiday trip to Las Vegas. Using a simple application, he was able to access a Tesla at the airport, and found superchargers conveniently located every 20 kilometers. “There was no problem with electric cars there,” he affirmed, suggesting that the technology itself is not flawed, but rather its implementation and availability in certain regions. Elías’s comments underscore the need for significant improvements in charging infrastructure to support the growing electric vehicle market, particularly in countries like Spain, to ensure a seamless and reliable experience for EV owners.
