Accra Sky Train Trial Adjourned: Key Figure Hospitalized
Accra, Ghana – May 22, 2025 – The trial of the Accra Sky Train project took an unexpected turn today when Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund, failed to appear in court. His lawyers explained that he experienced a medical emergency and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre's emergency ward. "Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi was unable to attend court due to a medical emergency," stated his lawyer in court. The judge adjourned the case to Monday, May 26th, expressing hope that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi will recover in time to attend. The charges against Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi and Solomon Asamoah relate to a $2 million payment in 2019. The case continues to garner significant public interest in Ghana.
