Canadian Judo Class Fosters Unity Through a Simple Hugging Game
In a small Judo club nestled in the heart of Canada, a unique class activity unfolded on June 4th, 2025. Instructor Serhiy Proscuriv, known for his compassionate approach, introduced a game where children drew slips of paper with instructions to hug a specific classmate. One child, drawing a slip that read “Hug the person who makes you feel strong,” shared, "It felt really good to hug my friend. It made me happy." The activity, while seemingly simple, fostered a sense of unity and support amongst the diverse group of children. The choice of song playing in the background, containing lyrics in Ukrainian, added a layer of cultural significance. This small act highlighted the power of human connection and resilience, even amidst global challenges.
