Kate Gosselin Reveals 'Lasting' Health Struggles After Giving Birth to Sextuple…
"Turns out that my bladder was so compressed that it lost its ability to do what a bladder is supposed to do."
Kate Gosselin, known for her reality television presence, has shed light on the intricate and often challenging aspects of her journey through infertility, pregnancy, and the birth of her sextuplets. In a recent personal account, Gosselin shared previously untold stories from her extended hospital stay, offering a candid glimpse into the emotional and physical tolls of carrying multiple children. During her prolonged hospitalization, Gosselin recounted the invaluable support from child life specialists. "They would take them on little tours through the hospital, and Mady and Cara at three thought that was the greatest thing," Gosselin stated, highlighting how these specialists created craft kits, like egg carton caterpillars, to facilitate engaging visits with her older daughters. This initiative fostered cherished memories, with one daughter, Mady, even requesting to recreate the craft years later during a visit with her mother. Gosselin also detailed a notable conflict with hospital staff regarding her vitamin regimen. Having been advised by her mother to take a quadruple dose of folic acid and other vitamins, a practice she continued throughout her pregnancy, she faced resistance from the hospital pharmacy. "The pharmacy in Reading, Pennsylvania, questioned us as to why I was on so much folic acid," Gosselin explained. Despite the pharmacy's concerns about unprescribed supplements, Gosselin, with her mother's staunch support, insisted on continuing the regimen, stating, "If I can't continue taking my vitamins, I'm going to sign myself out AMA [against medical advice]." The hospital ultimately conceded, allowing her to continue after labeling her personal bottles. Beyond the logistical challenges, Gosselin openly discussed the lasting physical impacts of her sextuplet pregnancy. She described severe body pain, likening it to feeling "80 when I was pregnant." Post-delivery, she experienced significant bladder compression, leading to a loss of function that required a catheter and ongoing issues. Additionally, Gosselin revealed a serious complication of retained placental tissue after her C-section, which necessitated further medical intervention. These revelations underscore the profound and enduring changes her body underwent.
